HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 03-06-2000CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL COMMUNITY APPEARANCE BOARD MEETING MARCH 6, 2000 MINUTES A meeting of the City of Cape Canaveral - Community Appearance Board was held on March 6, 2000, at 7:00 P.M. in the City Hall Annex, 111 Polk Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Secretary called the roll. MEMBERS PRESENT: Nadena Easler Chairperson Walter Bowman Vice Chairperson (late) Alice Nielsen MEMBERS ABSENT: Karen Hayes OTHERS PRESENT: Kohn Bennett City Attorney Morris Reid Building Inspector/ Plans Examiner Susan Chapman Secretary to the Board Attorney Bennett swore in Morris Reid, Staff Representative; William Barnes, Mr. Donald Haynes, and Mr. Paul Acson, Applicants. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Request No. 00-06 — Robert and Peggy Johnson, Single Family Residence, (523 Jefferson Avenue), Section 23, Township 24 South, Range 37 East, Block 17, Lot 7, Avon by the Sea Subdivision - William Barnes Sr. and Donald Haynes, Lauren Homes, Applicant. Mr. Barnes testified that the single family home would be located at th ' e corner. of Ridgewood and Jefferson Avenues. The 2-story home would be constructed of concrete block with a white finish, Charleston green shutters, light colored shingled roof, and the aluminum railings around the porch would be white. The Board members reviewed the submitted landscape plan. Mr. Barnes advised that three of the existing palm trees would be relocated and the landscape would have additional plantings than what was shown on the plan. Brief discussion followed. Motion by Mr. Bowman, seconded by Alice Neilsen to approve the submittal as presented. Vote on the motion carried unanimously. Request No. 00 -07, Kelsey's Pizzeria, Pole & Building Signs, (8699 Astronaut Boulevard), Section 14, Township 24 South, Range 37 East, Parcel 778 - Paul Acson, Go Signs, Applicant. Mr. Paul Acson testified that the computer generated drawing of the sign depicted an approximate placement. He further testified that although the drawing showed the trim and supporting poles were black, he was not sure if they would be dark green. He advised that the neon on the building sign would be either dark green or red. Discussion followed. Motion by Mr. Bowman, seconded by Mrs. Neilsen to approve the submittal with the following stipulations: The pole sign shall have red letters, dark green or black trim and posts. The building sign shall have dark green or red neon. Vote on the motion carried unanimously. There being no further business, the meeting was duly adjourned at 7:28 P.M.
