HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 04-29-1991CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT APRIL 29, 1991 A meeting of the City of Cape Canaveral Zonina Board of Adjustment etas held on April 29, 1991 at the City Hall Annex, 111 Polk Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Florida. Vice Chairman P.iaerman called the meetina to order at 7:30 P.M. The Secretary called the roll. MEMBERS PRESENT: Marilyn Riaerman Vice Chairman Robert Laws Ronnie Farmer John Rutte Alternate MEMBERS ABSENT: Russell Lloyd Chairman Patrick_ Lee Robert Hooa Alternate OTHERS PRESENT: Joy Salamone Mayor Edward Spenik City Manaaer Kohn Bennett Deputy City Attorney James Moraan Buildina Official Susan Nelson Secretary Mr. Laws moved to approve the minutes of February 25, 1991 with the notation that James Moraan, Buildina Official., was present at that meetina. Mr. Farmer seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. NE14 BUSINESS 1. Special ,Exception Request No, 91,, -_2 _ To__Al low _ - a _Book, Store in a r, Z one,._Parcel 260_._ Sec. 23, T.p. 24S, Rae. 37E. (8075 N. Atlantic Avenue) Petitioner was Marv_ Lou Dorsey for James E. Means Owner Vice Chairman Riaerman advised that four members must vote in favor of a special exception in order for it to be aranted. Ms. Riaerman poled the petitioner and she aareed to have the case heard even thouah only four Board -,embers *.were in attendance. Ms. Dorsey explained the concept of her business. She noted that her company had been in business in various locations throuahout the City for approximately six (6) years. She stated that she was reloc_atina the business with no plans to :pand beyond this location. John Rutte questioned why a book store was not a permitted use in a C -1 Zone. James Moraan, Buildina Official, explained that a book store was not permissible in a C -1 Zone without a special exception as per Section 637.51 of the City of Cape Canaveral Zonina Reaulations. Leo Nicholas, representative for the V.F.W., spoke in favor of the request- - Moraan notd that the City had never received anv complaints reaardi.na the book store. Discussion Re: _ Clean Up Month Mayor Salamone, explained that Mr. Fred DiStasio, an alternate member of the Plannina and Zoning Board, had approached the City Council reaardi.na establishina the month of June as Clean Up Month in the City. The City Council had endorsed this idea and was seeking support from members of the advisory boards to help clean up the City. Discussion followed. It was determined that any inquiries or questions should be directed to Susan Nelson at City Hall. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P. H.
