HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 05-18-2009Ailir oiro RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD CITY HALL ANNEX, 111 POLK AVENUE MONDAY, May 18, 2009 MEMBERS PRESENT: Hank Dinenno, John Dattilo, Eileen Kandret, Stephanie Robinson MEMBERS ABSENT: Carol Delano, Gene Petre, Doug Raymond OTHERS PRESENT: Robert Lefever, Director of Parks & Recreation Shannon Roberts, Cape Canaveral Council Member Joyce Hamilton, Kiwanis Club Fran Norman, Board Secretary The meeting was called to order at 5:30 by chairperson, Hank Dinenno The board unanimously approved to adopt the minutes of the Regular Meeting on March 23, 2009. Director Robert Lefever reviewed the March & April Departments Reports and answered questions posed by the board members present. The board members voted unanimously to approve the following agenda items: Life Trail Sponsor Panels Level — 1: $50.00 Community Appreciation Panel Vinyl name plate up to 3 lines — 6 Year Sponsor Level — 2: $300.00 1 Year Sponsor Panel Level — 3: $700.00 3 Year Sponsor Panel Level 4: $1,000.00 6 Year Sponsor Panel $90.00 — Panel Cost (if no art work needed) Non -Resident Rates Charging a non-resident fee of $1.00 in addition to all court fees for non-residents Special Event % Splits with the City of Cape Canaveral Charity Non -Profit 501-c3: 25% - City of Cape Canaveral 75% - Charity Private For Profit Group: 50% - City of Cape Canaveral 50% - Private Group There was a discussion regarding the Corporate Rates for Manatee Park. Hank Dinenno stated that if they are selling products they should pay more. The board agreed to bring the discussion back at the next meeting, and should look into what other cities charge. Stephanie Robinson said she really enjoyed the Magic Show held at the Recreation Center on May 9th saying it was great. Eileen Kandret indicated she had seen Bocce Ball played in St. Augustine and thought it would be a nice addition here in Cape Canaveral. Director Robert Lefever responded that we had looked into building a couple of courts here at our Center but it was very expensive. Hank Dinenno stated that he thought the Recreation Department was doing great. The next Recreation Board meeting will be held on Monday, July 27t.
