HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE Specimen Tree ChangeIn short, yes. It would be a simple switch of numbers through an ordinance. The real meat and potatoes is the staff report/whereas language justifying our change.

Okay, I’ll make a meeting in the near future to discuss with him and invite you guys. I’m thinking first week of October.
He brought the idea to me from his arborist conference in Fort Lauderdale where they had their specimen tree defined as 18 inches.

Zach,
We would need to get Tim involved with this along with possibly researching other municipalities.

Subject: Specimen Tree Change
Hello Brianna and Brian,
I was looking through the code for info about the sizing of specimen trees in the City, which is 24 inches or more in diameter (Sec. <https://library.municode.com/fl/cape_canaveral/codes/code_of_ordi
nances?nodeId=SPBLADECO_CH102VE_ARTIITRPR_DIV2LACL_S102-36DE> 102-36). It is listed in the definitions up top.
I know we’ve spoken about changing this to 18 inches. Would it be as simple as changing out this specific definition to read 18 inches instead of 24 inches and taking it to Council,
or would more be involved? Thanks.
