Dear Abigail,
The City chose to follow the Miami Dade County code that considers a specimen as 18” DBH to protect tree canopy.
Attached is our current tree ordinance.

Good Afternoon,
I am with the City of Cape Canaveral and was interested in the justification used to consider specimen trees 18” DBH or larger.
We are looking to draft an ordinance changing the DBH from 24” to 18”.
Are there any resources referred to that influenced the City’s decision to determine that size?
Thank you for your time and have a great day,
Abigail Trout
