Temporary fences and Sandbags on Jackson Ave
For your review. Think I hit the points we discussed.
________________________________________________________________
Good afternoon Ms. Ellsworth. Thank you for your email from earlier today regarding the temporary fence on Jackson Avenue.
I want to respond to several questions/comments you raise:
1. Why is the temporary fence needed and allowed now? How long will it be allowed to stay? According to the property representative, the fence has been erected in anticipation of
improvements to the building, to include repaving of the parking lot as well as painting the exterior of the building. City Staff instructed the representative the fence was to be relocated
to the property line and to specifically place the fence inside of the public traffic pole located at Jackson Avenue and N. Atlantic Avenue. In addition, the temporary fence may remain
as long as the afore-mentioned work is actively progressing.
2. Why the patrons of a thriving, tax lucrative business can’t continue to park in that empty lot as they have been doing since this business opened? The area that has recently
been fenced is located at 7802 N. Atlantic Avenue, which is a separate property from the Ellie Mae’s location (120 Jackson Ave.). Whether or not the tenants of Ellie Mae’s had permission
to use the parking on the 7802 N. Atlantic Avenue property is not known, however, it is within the rights of the owner of 7802 N. Atlantic Avenue to prohibit unauthorized parking on
the property. City Staff has spoken with the proprietor of Ellie Mae’s so she is aware that this is a private property issue and does not directly involve the City.
I hope you find this responsive to your questions. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Dave

Hi Stephanie, Mr. Morrison and John Mayberry,
The temporary fence was adjusted on Jackson Ave, but still is against the street on the corner where A1A and Jackson meet. (some pictures attached) It's still dangerous for walkers
and bikers. I walked around it to go to Friday fest and then again after we stopped at Ellie Mae's Tiki bar.
I wanted to include Mayor Morrison and Mr. Mayberry because I have some questions about why the fence is needed. The former Mexican restaurant already had construction and sprucing
up weeks back, with no fence needed. This restaurant has been empty for a long time, with no fence around it. My question is why is the temporary fence needed and allowed now? How
long will it be allowed to stay? There are signs on the fence "Beware of Dog '' in addition to the "Danger Construction Area Keep Out `` and'' Surveillance Being Used." I think It's
a huge eye sore for the city. Is the building being taken down now or dangerous to be near? I don't believe that to be the case, because I see it listed for lease.
When we stopped at Ellie Mae's Friday evening it was busy. The Sheriff department was there to have people move their cars off the street. I totally support the Sheriffs and realize
the fire trucks need Jackson Ave clear. I just wonder why the patrons of a thriving, tax lucrative business can't continue to park in that empty lot as they have been doing since this
business opened? Our community business people normally support each other, or I thought they did. I just hope that fence wasn't erected for spiteful reasons. ...And I certainly
hope the city has a removal date and that it's soon.
I appreciate your time and commitment to our city.

Dave
