WHEREAS, Mobility Week is a cooperative effort by the Florida Department of
Transportation and its partner agencies to promote awareness of safe, multimodal
transportation choices by hosting an annual collection of outreach events; and
WHEREAS, Mobility Week is an ideal time for counties, cities, and transportation
agencies to highlight achievements, introduce new initiatives, and/or implement new
policies promoting sustainable transportation; and
WHEREAS, Mobility Week is an opportunity for individuals to explore various
transportation choices available to them, and consider how sustainable travel choices
reduce traffic congestion, benefit the environment, and improve community health; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral, as part of its Vision Statement, seeks to
create an inclusive beachside community that promotes safe, sensible mobility with an
emphasis on pedestrian needs through a commitment to future -ready essential civic
services and quality -of -life amenities; and
WHEREAS, Mobility Week is consistent with the City of Cape Canaveral's key
priorities of a healthy, sustainable, and vibrant multi -modal community, dedication to
Vision Zero, and forward -thinking interagency collaboration; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral supports Mobility Week by hosting and
participating in transportation events, such as "Friday Fest + Mobility Week."
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Wes Morrison, Mayor of the City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard
County, Florida, hereby do proclaim the week of October 27 — November 4, 2023, as
MOBILITY WEEK
in the City of Cape Canaveral, and encourage all citizens to explore transportation options
available to them and to participate in Mobility Week events.
