WHEREAS, hate violence has become a daily occurrence and continues to
increase at epidemic rates across the nation; and
WHEREAS, history has tragically taught us what happens when people stand
by and allow acts of violence, hatred and injustice to occur; and
WHEREAS, those that are exposed to such inequitable treatment often feel
alienated, without hope and helpless to stand alone against the hate and
aggression; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral expresses deep and sincere sympathy
to those and their families who have experienced hatred because of their ethnicity,
nationality, race, religion, socio-economic level, gender, sexual orientation, age,
political affiliation; and unjust behavior or discrimination toward people with
disabilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral recognizes the recent increase of
anti-Semitic hatred, violence, and crimes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral understands the traumatic results of
bullying, stalking, cyber-stalking, and hate mail, and deplore such actions that
cause intense pain among our residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral is committed to supporting other cities
in our State to work together to respond to the call for equality throughout our nation.
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Wes Morrison, Mayor of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Brevard County, Florida, do hereby proclaim commitment to supporting the Florida
League of Cities in its mission to create a safe, secure, and equitable environment
and declare that
