Melinda, If you are not aware (I’m sure you are), Zach coordinated a large volunteer group from Florida Tech to participate in a great event yesterday. Very impressed with him. Dave

Hey thanks, Dave. We had about 60 volunteers broken into two groups between the two parks. They were all members of Florida Tech Residence Life. I used to serve in that department when
I was on campus their, for seven years actually. Great memories. I recognized a few people still. I wrote them a thank you letter. See what you think.

Hi Zach. Nice job on this. How many volunteers did you have and where were they from?

Subject: Planting Event
Hi Gustavo,
Just wanted to let you know the planting event went very well and all 275 plants were planted by the volunteers. There is a now a new vegetative buffer of Sand Cordgrasses two rows
deep along the central shoreline of Banana River Park and three rows deep along the central shoreline of Manatee Sanctuary Park. When these get fully established I think they will look
very nice. Fortunately, they are much taller than the original ones I had done earlier in the year, so it would be very difficult for someone not to realize they are plants and not
regular sod. Regardless, I’ll get with Dave Coulter to ensure the lawn care company is fully aware they are there and not to disturb them as best as possible.
It rained already in Cape Canaveral so they were watered, with much more on the way this weekend. I’ll be back out there tomorrow morning to take some better photos. The event ended
around 5:30 pm so I didn’t have all that much time to take some nice wide shots. All tools and supplies are back where they need to be at IM and City Hall. I let Dave Coulter know as
well already. Also, the volunteers picked up a few trash bags worth of trash along the shoreline of both parks and under the boardwalk at Manatee. We disposed of the trash in the receptacles
at each park, as well as the plant pots.
Thank you for your support with this project.
