HomeMy WebLinkAboutcocc_resolution_no_2021-08_20210720RESOLUTION NO. 2021-08 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING A TENTATIVE PROPOSED MILLAGE RATE FOR THE LEVY OF AD VALOREM TAXES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021/2022 ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City wishes to impose Ad Valorem Taxes based upon an approved millage rate; and WHEREAS, Florida Statute 200.065 expressly provides no millage shall be levied until a resolution or ordinance has been approved by the governing board of the taxing authority and upon preparation of a tentative budget, but prior to adoption thereof, each taxing authority shall compute a tentative proposed millage rate necessary to fund the tentative budget other than the portion of the budget to be funded from sources other than ad valorem taxes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, as follows: Section 1. The total millage for all City operating purposes is 3.5755 mills on the dollar of taxable value for the 2021/2022 Fiscal Year for the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida. This millage represents the roll -back rate. Section 2. The City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, hereby adopts and imposes a tentative proposed millage rate of 3.5291 mills for General Government Millage. This tentative proposed Ad Valorem Tax shall be levied upon the 2021 Tax Assessment Roll for Ad Valorem Tax on all taxable property located within the City of Cape Canaveral and is to be used for the City's Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 2021 and ending September 30, 2022. Section 3. The City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, hereby adopts and imposes a tentative proposed millage rate of 0.0464 mills for the Library Dependent Special District, as approved in the 1985 referendum election. This tentative proposed Ad Valorem Tax shall be levied upon the 2021 Tax Assessment Roll for Ad Valorem Tax on all taxable property located within the City of Cape Canaveral and is to be used for the City's Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 2021 and ending September 30, 2022. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
