1. Separation from sanitary hazards. -
A. Horizontal separation of 10 feet outside shall be maintained to son;tory or storm
sewers. Horizontal separation of the greater of 3 feet outside to outside or five feet center
to center shall be maintained to reclaim water mains. In the event that horizontal
separation cannot be maintained, the water main shall be in a separate trench on on
<) undisturbed earth shelf to one side of the sanitary hazard at on elevation so that the bottom
xv of the water main is at least- 18 inches above the top of the sanitary hazard (as on
alternative, the water main may be constructed of DIP with mechanical joints).
B. Where water mains cross sanitary hazards, there shall be a minimum separation of 18
inches between the outside of the two mo;ns. The crossing shall be arranged so that one
full length of water pipe w;11 hove both joints as for as possible from the sanitary hazord.
If there is less than 18 inches of separation available, the water main shall be constructed
of DIP with mechanical joints.
