HomeMy WebLinkAboutUPDATED METERED BEACH PARKING FOR HOME PAGEUPDATED AS OF 10/31/2011 METERED BEACH PARKING COMING SOON TO THE CITY After a year of deliberation, the Cape Canaveral City Council determined that the City would benefit from the implementation of a Metered Parking Program. Metered parking would be established at each Presidential Street beach end and at the beach end in Harbor Heights. One Parking Meter Pay Station will be installed at the end of each street location and will be capable of servicing any metered parking space within the City. These state of the art Pay Stations are solar powered and user friendly. They accept credit/debit cards as well as American currency. Parking will be metered from 8 am to 6 pm, seven days a week at a cost of $1 per hour. Enforcement will be provided by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Cape Canaveral Precinct as well as City Staff. It is anticipated that the installation will begin in late November and the pay stations will “Go Live” on or about January 15, 2012. Dune Crossover repairs, beach raking, landscaping, refuge pick-up, signage and roadway maintenance are just a few of the costs of maintaining the beautiful Cape Canaveral beaches. This Program will shift the extensive costs of beach maintenance to the beach users. Those interested may apply for an Annual Pass, which will run from January 1st through December 31st. Cape Canaveral residents may request a portion of their Ad Valorem Taxes be used to offset the cost of their Pass. The cost of the Pass is $60. The Annual Pass application as well as additional information will be posted to the website in the near future.
