HomeMy WebLinkAboutSSA Meter Encl Design comments 10 17 11You’ve specified a 6” high curb. We really don’t need it that high. I’m not sure of the long-term stability of such a tall and narrow (3.5”wide) curb. Can we lower it to 2.5-3” high?
Response – will lower to 4”.
OK
2x6 and 2x2 lumber is called out. Where are these supposed to be applied?
Response - will delete. All trim will be 1x Trex or equivalent.
Two sizes of j-bolts are specified (8” and 10”). Please clarify.
Response – all will be 10”.
What is bat housing about?
Response – this has been removed
Can you tell me about grade AISI 304 steel?
Response – Standard grade steel.
As for the height of the structure, the controlling factor is the height of the numeric keypad from grade (ADA Regs). In the preliminary drawings, we had specified 4’-7” to the top
of the numeric keypad, and the top of the parking meter at 5’-8” from grade. And an overall structure height of 7’-8”. The height in your design indicates that there is a height of
approx. 5’-11” from grade to the bottom of the top two plates. I would suggest we change the measurement to be 6’-8” from grade to the top of the two top plates.
Response – has been revised to 6’-8”.
The structure needs a gable face. Please provide on design.
Response – Gable face has been provided.
How about the collar ties? They would also help form a ceiling to keep spider webs and wasp nests away. Ceiling material? Got any ideas?
Response – Collar ties not structurally necessary. Ceiling will be “cathedral” type, constructed of hardi-plank.
The note about the color of the roof can be removed. The color has been determined to be mill finish gray.
Response – has been changed to gray.
A minor typo on Section A-A: says “Expansion bolts ot permitted”. I believe it should say “Expansion bolts not permitted”
Response – Typo has been corrected.
There is reference to a 1x “Azak” trim at the drip edge. Is this necessary if the fascia is Trex?
Response – Prefers to leave the 1x in place.
I noticed that you didn’t call for a mild slope on the slab. Do you believe it is not necessary?
Response – a slope of +/-1/2” has been included.
Do you recommend using fibermesh concrete?
Response – yes. Has been included.
Please specify that the Hardi Plank is to have 4” exposure
Response – Has been specified.
Please specify a wall-to-top plate connector
Response – Has been included.
“Structural Timber“ notes reference timber construction. I believe this would only be appropriate for Type IV construction. It appears that Structural Timber notes 2, 3 and 4 can be
deleted, and the remaining two notes moved up into the “General Notes” category.
Response – all references to “Structural Timber” have been removed.
