However, this cost reflected only the construction of concrete pads for the 16 beach-end locations. The Parking Meter Committee later realized that the installation of two bollards at each location would help to protect the parking meters. Gregori was contacted and asked for a change order to install the bollards (32) – the additional cost was $9,120. This increase in the project budget was approved by the Parking Meter Committee. During the installation of the ten-foot poles at each location (for the solar panels), Todd Morley and Jeff Ratliff realized that the connection between the poles and the underground conduit was a potential weak structural point. After discussions with Gregori, it was decided to have a 10” x 10” metal plate welded to the bottom of each pole. This would then allow for the metal plate to be fastened to the concrete pads to provide extra strength. Gregori was contacted and asked for a change order to install the 10” x 10” plates – the additional cost was $1,582.84. This increase in the project budget was approved by Todd Morley and Jeff Ratliff. These changes in project scope increased the original budget to $21,342.84. (Note: This contractor “bent over backwards” for the City and performed very well – the field crew was very knowledgeable and provided many good suggestions. Staff will solicit quotes from Gregori at every possible opportunity in the future.)
