Here are a few things to consider: Three Year Log I would think the City would want this information. The City should be comparing the STR owner's rental records with the Brevard County Tax Collector to ensure sales and Tourist Development Taxes are being paid. I looked up several and either their accounts are closed, or under paid. One of the STR owners has three rentals in the City. They only paid $37.00 to the tax collector in 2019 and 2020. I live near one of these STRs, and it was rented at least 60 nights in 2020. If this owner only charged $100 per night, the taxes that should have been paid would be $660.00. This is money that is not going to the City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, and Space Coast Office of Tourism. Annual Inspection I believe this should be done at least once to ensure the owner meets all safety requirements. They should also be required to provide "rules". This may alleviate some of the issues the residents are having. They could state the quiet hours, the number of parking spaces allowed, the number of guests allowed, dogs are not allowed on the beach, etc. I also think the owners should be required to post on their website listings that dogs are not allowed on our beaches. On Friday, January 22, I observed 7 dogs on the beach. None of the dog owners were Cape Canaveral residents. This is an ongoing problem on our beaches.
