The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Harvey Renshaw at 3:05 p.m.
New member, John Datillo, was introduced and welcomed.
The Minutes of the December 20,1994, Meeting were approved.
Recreation Department actual to date costs to budget were reviewed.
The Recreation Director presented the December Report which was accepted.
The relative success (despite poor weather) of the Bicycle Safety Rodeo, thanks to the support of
the Sheriffs Department, Recreation Department staff, parents, and others, was noted. The Board
encouraged scheduling a second such activity prior to the end of the school year.
Plans for the Tennis Tournament in February and Patriots' Day activities on March 11 were
discussed.
Recreational activities scheduled for February were raiewed.
Recognizing that full participation by Recreation Board members was desirable to properly
evaluate the Recreation Element of the Comprehensive Plan, members present approved a motion
to meet in special session with the City Manager at the City Hall Annex for that sole purpose at
10:30 a.m. on January 31st.
The Board reviewed a request from Rockwell International that the City assist with the tennis
tournament associated with their annual Employee Picnic on April 1, 1995. The Board
unanimously' recommended that the City council approve contributions to the event similar and
comparable to that provided last year.
There being no further business before the Board. the meet i was adjourned at 3:35 p.m.

SPECIAL NOTES OF POST -MEETING ACTIVITY:
Board Member/Vice Chairman Harvey Renshaw departed and Board Member/Chairman Colin
Finnegan arrived.
In unofficial session, Board members present heard a presentation from Steve Roney on the
growth and present status of youth soccer activities in the Central Brevard area, and in particular
the Beach communities. The focus of discussion was on how present and future participation in
such leagues could be facilitated for interested youth in the City of Cape Canaveral.
As a possible interim measure for the currently scheduled Spring Season, the Recreation Director
was encouraged to secure numbers defining the extent of involvement in soccer league activities by
youth from Cape Canaveral and to assist Mr. Roney in contacts with the County Bus services
system relative to post-schoolday transport from Cape Canaveral to the Cocoa Beach practice
fields area.
The Board was asked to consider the possibilities and options for securing practice/playing field
space and facilities readily and safely accessible for Cape Canaveral youth participating in
organized soccer leagues as part of its Comprehensive Plan review actions.
