September 25, 1995
MEMBERS ATTENDING: Colin Finnegan, Bob Gorham, Marianne Kulac, Regina Mead, Bill
Schmidt
MEMBERS ABSENT: John Datillo, Harvey Renshaw
ALSO ATTENDING: Nancy Henson, City Recreation Director
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Colin Finnegan at 3:05 p.m.
The minutes of the July 24, 1995, Board Meeting were approved as written.
Nancy Henson reviewed the FY95 Recreation Budget revenues and expenses to date, explaining
deviations and approved revisions. The Board Members accepted the Report without comment.
The Recreation Director presented her Activity Report, consisting of the following items:
1. A summary of the Summer Recreation/Pool Splash Programs' revenues, expenses and
youth registration. The Board noted the somewhat limited youth participation.
2. A review of discussions at the August 8th Neighborhood Park Meeting. Board
Members expressed disappointment in the apparent lack of a strong on -going interest by
local residents to provide a children's playground in the northwest residential area of the
city. It was noted that, while not funded, such a concept remains in the 5-Year Capital
Plan for Cape Canaveral.
3. Status of the FRDAP Grant Project for Canaveral City Park. Pending completion of
paperwork, it is still hoped the new poles and lighting for the Senior Ballfield and
renovation of rest rooms can be completed before start of the League seasons in January,
1996.
4. Planned schedule of fall activities and upcoming special events. Board Members
favorably reviewed the flyer now available announcing these plans.
5. Facility improvement projects undertaken. Board Members noted actions have been
taken to paint the interior of the racquetball courts, refinish the floors and paint railings on
the observation deck, and fix and install walkway and security lighting around the
Recreation Facility Complex.
There was no unfinished or new business brought before the Board.
The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Colin Finnegan at 4.05 p.m.
