Nellie,
This report was referred to Stormwater and Natural resources. The water
leaving the site supports algal growth and does not appear to contain
any hazardous material. If this leakage is caused by a structural
failure of the pool would your department investigate this case? Please
let me know and I can pass this information on to the complainant.
Thanks,
Jeff Cooke

Good morning Jeff and Terry,
Please see the incident report received over the weekend below in
regards to wastewater leaving a pool from Jungle Village Mini Golf
Course in Cape Canaveral.
The water is believed to be coming from a crack/leak in a pool on the
course. The water is leaking offsite onto a DOT right of way sidewalk
causing algae growth and a safety hazard. The water and algae are also
entering a nearby storm drain. The email attached has pictures and a
plain view screen shot of the impacted areas.
The leak has been ongoing for two weeks now and the facility has been
confronted multiple times by DOT hired contractor DBI. Wayne with DBI
reported this case to the state watch office and his contact information
can be found below. He is supposed to provide me with additional
facility contact info.
At this time it is unknown if the water leaking from the pool is
treated.
I believe this issue could be better addressed as a storm water or code
enforcement complaint initially. This facility does not meet the
requirement for a NPDES stormwater permit with DEP and the problem seems
to stem from a structural maintenance malfunction. DEP can further
assist from an industrial waste water approach if the water is treated
and no corrective actions are taken.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
