ARTIST EXPERIENCE:
What public art projects have you been involved with previously?
I started working on murals in 2014 under the alias Anon, and shortly after developed a community format where anyone could
paint, but the outcome would still be sharp and professional. Some of the projects I've been involved in for the city of West
Palm Beach include a 40'x20'community mural for hundreds of people,a signature mural at the new Hilton West Palm Beach,
a number of walls at establishments in the downtown area, and multiple murals for local businesses during grand openings,
inaugurals, client engagement, and employee morale projects.Recently,I was also part of a small team of artists to paint a 1.2
mile long"road mural"(the world's largest)in West Palm over the course of 16 days. Some of my projects have been featured
in Forbe's"5 Reasons Palm Beach Is A Cultural Destination",and in Modern Living's"Reasons to move to West Palm Beach."
What type of public art programs would you like to see in Cape Canaveral?
Cape Canaveral is a place the whole world turns their attention to in hopes for answers to some very primal questions.Curious by nature, especially with things residing just outside of our understanding,we can't
help but be fascinated by space exploration.I think this would be the perfect place to bring community-based art that celebrates and honors this primal curiosity.
As an artist,I wort, with triangles because they are a way to express the alikeness and intrinsic capacity to co-create found within communities.
In working with community-based murals,we have experienced the tangible joy exuded from someone picking up a paintbrush after years of not having the opportunity.
We find that art is at times unreachable outside of ad class,as space can be outside of museums and space camps.By placing art in public places we can again connect with these often unreachable items. We
begin to draw the lines between art, education, space, technology, and community.By bridging these gaps.we expand our horizons and nurture the innate curiosity about our selves.our capabilities and what lies
beyond.Any opportunity to draw us closer together,to our communities,to the place where we live.is a grand one,and community murals do just that and more.
Would you be interested in participating in future public art projects? ® Yes C No
Brief artist bio:
Born in Cuba to an artistic family,I have always felt the need to do something skillful with my hands and imagination.Coming to the States,I joined the Navy
as a military medic some years later, where I found myself exercising this creative impulse by using my hands to help others, which also further awakened a
strong desire to be of service. The Navy helped me develop a keen appreciation for community, and experience the importance of a nurtured human spirit for a
happy, healthy life. After finishing my term,I pursued a BFA in Graphic Design, which gave me the tools to create art with digital assistance. However,my
artistry would really take form after a profound experience at a 10-day Vipassana meditation course, which compelled me to narrate my understanding of
community and interconnectedness through triangles. In murals and in life,I like to empower others to pick up a paintbrush and work together.Through the
experiential act of co-creation,it becomes easy to experience the diversity in each triangle's shape, color, size, and ultimately appreciate how each one,
regardless of appearance,is imperative to the integrity of the whole. My objective is to remind others,if only for a few minutes at a time, that we are fortunate
to live in community, and of the immense amount of love found within it.I'm currently living and loving West Palm Beach pursuing a life of art-making with my
beautiful wife and partner Samantha.
