Unfinished business
The park, requested by Columbia Drive residents was discussed.
A concensus was reached that the suggested location (behind the
Union 76 Station on A1A) is not a desirable park location due
to the traffic and noise on A1A, safety, the possible soil con-
tamination and the area being too small for play equipment. The
Boards feeling is that this area would serve only the Columbia
Drive residents because of poor accessibility and feel it is
not a good precedent to set for the city to build a park in an
area that would serve only a small segment of the population.
It was agreed however, that a park area is needed in the north
end of the City but at a location that would serve the greatest
number of residents and would be large enough to accommodate
playground equipment, picnic pavallions and benches.
New business
The 1992-93 budget was discussed. Manpower cuts in the recreation
budget being the primary area of concern.
Meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
