D. AARP Safe Driving Class: Lee De Goff, instructor, referred me to Mark
Harris, Assistant State Co-ordinator, because he had problems with
the acoustics in our meeting room when he offered the class last year.
Mr. Harris said that they would be glad to offer the course if we
could guarantee a minimum of 14 persons and a maximum of 25 persons.
The charge is $8.00 to pay for the instructor's basic expenses. They

for the hotel must be made in advance. Departure will be on Tuesday, March 19th. ,

F. Donations for Library Day: The Florida Library Association is requesting support
and donations to help sponsor Library Day. This is a project to require more
State Aid for libraries.

at the Cape Sierra Restaurant. I will not be able to attend and have designated
Lynn Bennett as my representative.
H. Volunteer of the Month: Mr. Tim Grady was selected as Volunteer of the Month
for January by the Cape Canaveral City Council. We extend congratulations to
him and thank him for the wonderful job he has done.
I. Book Sale: Patrons have been donating books and magazines. Some of them we
have added to our collection; others we have put in the book truck and on the
table for sale. I have 5 boxes of books for the Book Sale and am running out of
space. Mr. Spenik, City Manager, said that at present they are unable to provide
storage space at City Hall. They had an auditing and there were some recommend-
ations to this respect. It will be necessary to find extra space for these books.
J. Magazines: Dean Duncan, EBSCO representative, found another sponsor, Beckman-
Williamson Funeral Home, for eight more magazines for two years. They will provide
a display stand and a magazine cover witht he sponsor's name.
K. Thank-you letter: C.W.Jake Miller, Sheriff of Brevard County, sent us a thank-
you letter for the books that were donated to the detention center. I am weeding
out 1988 magazines as we dont have roam for them. I would like to send them
to the Detention Center.
L. Interior walls: Spoke with Mr. Spenik about status of interior walls. G & S
Contractors have not contacted the library. He will give us a follow-up.
M. Note of appreciation: Would like to thank Mr.Spenik for sending someone from
the Public Works Dept. to fix the Men"s Room in the library. We thank the City
of Cape Canaveral for their co-operation and support.
We are still planning on getting the Eiki Video Projecter.
I will hand out forms for you to fill out regarding the role of the library
in the community.
IV. OLD BUSINESS:
With reference to the problem with the library interior walls, Mr.Spenik said
that he has heard from the Aetna Ins. Co. and that $8,430.00 will be awarded
to have the walls fixed. Contact with the company has been hampered due to
the fact that the agent in charge of this matter has been shipped to Saudi Arabia.
However, G&S Contractors will probably do the work. A break down of the $8,430.00
was not available.
Mrs. Escapa reports that the cleaning people at the library are doing a better
job and this is not a problem at the moment.

of Cape Canaveral. A representative of The Friends. . will be invited to speak
to the Board.
