Per the Code, I also included $18.50 for recording expenses related to the lien, and $5,617.00 in attorneys’ fees (Approximately 30.5 hours) which were incurred by the City for the past year dealing with this specific violation related to the unsafe structure cited in the NOV issued by the Building Official. Thus, the total lien amount is $22,725.50. Further, per the Code the lien is subject to interest. I incorporated an interest rate of 5.72 percent which is the current statutory interest rate for judgements set by the State’s Chief Financial Officer. Please have the City Manager execute the lien before two witnesses and a notary and have the City Clerk Attest the signature. Then, record the Lien with the Clerk of the Court immediately to preserve the City’s lien interests against the current and any future title holders to the property.
