HomeMy WebLinkAboutRe code violations 305 Surf DriveThe environment today precludes prudent citizens from exposing themselves and family members to potential retribution. We desire the City to confront this situation, not in private, but in public and in accordance with the ordinances our City leadership is obligated to uphold. Canaveral Code Watch was formed to ensure there is a protected avenue for the citizens to speak to the City. This is not a new concept, even for our City. At one time there was a method on the City's website to do what we are asking for now. We expect accurate and timely information be made available including correct assessment of the conditions brought forth and violations, actions taken by the City and solutions be made available to the public. I ask you to reconsider your reluctance to address this matter. Thank you, Bob Hoog From: City Watch [mailto:canaveralcodewatch@gmail.com] Sent: Saturday, January 02, 2016 7:30 PM To: Bob Hoog Subject: code violations, 305 Surf Drive Mayor, the clip is from an Oct 2015 Code Enforcement minutes. This property is not in any way compliant with city ordnances. This property has been an eyesore for over a decade. NOTHING substantial has been done to correct the most serious violations - rotten and crumbling roof, swimming pool popped out of the ground and is nothing more than a large puddle of stagnate mosquito infested water, screen enclosure falling apart, mold on the outside of the property, trash and junk all over the back yard, fence falling down, an abandoned boat in the back yard, an untagged vehicle in the driveway. There is more, but our point is, calling this property in compliance is just a complete disregard for the standards set by and expected by the citizens of our city. We also find a lack of visibility, management and accuracy of the information provided to the web interface by the building department. Please let us know via response to this email, what the city plans to do. Florida has a very broad public records law.
