Thanks for the response. As I indicated in my email from
yesterday, we are requesting that you grant City Code Enforcement Staff
access to your backyard so they can further investigate 305 Surf. Your
email did not indicate your willingness to do so.
Let us know what time Friday you would like to meet and we can
identify a course of action to address this matter. Thanks.

Subject: RE: 305 Surf
There is so much more wrong with this property. I would like to
come on Friday afternoon and review what the City has done to document
and resolve the many problems that have been there for years. As for
getting in to see the violations, both Michael German and Brian have
been in my backyard and seen the conditions. Yes the fence has been
patched but the real problems have nothing to do with the fence or
getting in to see anything. This is a picture from the property
appraisers office, probably 2 or 3 years old…Nothing has changed. There
is a car in the front that has not moved in 5 years, bare wires are
hanging out of the exterior walls, the front porch is falling in, the
front is overgrown to name a few. The pool is popped out of the ground,
there is an old boat hull in the yard with trees growing through it,
trash and junk all over and rats. Note the roof in this old picture,
nothing has changed except it has gotten worse. The mosquitos are
terrible because of the stagnate water in the pool and other buckets
left all over the place. With the threat of Zika, this is now a public
health problem. The City’s duty to enforce our ordinances is NOT being
done. Telling me the property is in compliance is just silly. I live
next to this mess. It is not compliant and has not been in many years.
Just as silly is the premise that you can’t do enforcement because the
owner won’t allow you on the property. Please tell me what the plan is.

Subject: 305 Surf
Good morning Mr. Campbell. Please contact our office to discuss
this property. My understanding is that you live next to 305 Surf. Brian
Palmer, one of our code enforcement officers, has tried to get access to
your back yard to view the rear yard of 305 Surf, but has not been able
to get your approval. This could assist with identifying additional
violations that you have raised.
The City has an active code enforcement case on 305 Surf
regarding roof damage/disrepair. The original notice included a
violation with fence disrepair, which has been corrected.
We appreciate any assistance that you can provide and look
forward to hearing from you. Dave

Subject: RE: Second attempt for a response
Mr. Campbell, sorry, but your e-mail went to a clutter file, of
which I was unaware of. I am aware of this ongoing case for a few years,
several violations, etc. The code enforcement office is in an ongoing
proactive, allowed by law, enforcement against this property. The last
compliance hearing did find the property in compliance , as far as the
violations that where against the property. Code office is not allowed
on property without the respondent’s authority the property is not
accessible to code enforcement to see all violations. My suggestion
would be for you to contact Duree Alexander, code enforcement officer at
868-1223 and get the full history of this property and the ongoing
actions against it. Your information could be helpful to her office.
Thanks for your help and time. Sorry about the e-mail mix up. I will
always respond to the residents.. BOB HOOG

Subject: Second attempt for a response
Good Day Mr. Mayor, I contacted you a week ago about the
conditions at 305 Surf Drive. I am somewhat disappointed that you have
not responded. I would like to again ask what the City is doing to
correct the code violations on this property. I found this in the CEB
minutes for Oct. 15, 2015 and I must object. The minutes state the
property was brought into compliance. The fact is, it is not even close
to being in compliance and has not been for many years. Please let me
know what the City intends to do. Thank you.
