Processing and routing:
Building Permit Applications (Commercial and residential with 3 or more units)
Three sets of plans are required.
Front counter intakes and performs sufficiency review → forwards packet to Plans Examiner.
Plans Examiner prepares inter-office transmittal sheets and distributes one copy of the plans to
the Planning & Development Director, and one copy to the Fire Department (using Fire
Department log sheet). Plans Examiner retains one set of plans and performs Building Code
review.
Planning and Fire Department comments are returned to the Plans Examiner → Plans Examiner
forwards all comments to applicant.
Resubmittals restart the process.
Building Permit Applications (Residential with 1 or 2 units, fences)
Two sets of plans are required.
Front counter intakes and performs sufficiency review → forwards packet to Plans Examiner.
Plans Examiner reviews and provides comments to applicant.
Resubmittals restart the process.
Building Permit Applications (New Signs)
Two sets of plans are required.
Front counter intakes and performs sufficiency review → forwards entire packet Planning &
Development Director. Planning & Development Director performs CAB review and setback
code review and provides comments to Plans Examiner. Plans Examiner performs Building
Code review and CH. 94 Code review (signs) and provides all comments to applicant.
Resubmittals restart the process.
Local Business Tax Receipts
Renewals: Front counter intakes and prepares for review. → Building Official reviews and
approves or rejects.
New Businesses: Front counter intakes and prepares for review. → forwards to Planning &
Development Director for Zoning Code review and comment, if it is for an unusual use in the
zoning district → Planning & Development Director forwards to Building Official for final
review and approval or denial.
For normal, usual and customary uses, front counter forwards directly to Building Official for
final review and approval or denial.
Denial correspondence is prepared by Senior Secretary and forwarded to applicant.
Resubmittals restart the process.
Outdoor Entertainment Event Applications
Front counter intakes, scans and forwards .pdf to Building Official → Building Official reviews
and forwards to Outdoor Entertainment Event Committee (OEEC) for review comments →
OEEC members forward comments to Building Official → once all comments are received,
Building Official forwards all comments to applicant.
Resubmittals restart the process.
Site Plan Applications
Front counter intakes and forwards to Planning & Development Director → Planning &
Development Director forwards to Development Review Committee (DRC) members for review
comments. → DRC members forward comments to Planning & Development Director → once
all comments are received, Planning & Development Director forwards all comments to
applicant.
Resubmittals restart the process.
Once all comments are sufficiently addressed, Planning & Development Director forwards latest
submittal to Administrative Assistant for Planning and Zoning Board review.
