HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE Thurm Blvd and A1A Discussion about possibility of a traffic lightHi Bob,
After speaking with Bob on this matter, we’re not really sure that we
are in a position or have the authority to offer any assistance or
guidance in this area. I knew that Todd was working with you on this
proposed improvement. When the plans for the proposed signal are ready
for FDOT review and approval, send it to our FDOT Liaison and she will
forward it to the appropriate person in Traffic Operations. There has
been a lot of turnover in that department and they are sharing
responsibilities. Her email address is janna.taylor@dot.state.fl.us
<mailto:janna.taylor@dot.state.fl.us> .
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us.

Subject: Thurm Blvd and A1A Discussion about possibility of a traffic
light
Bob:
If possible we would like to arrange a meeting with you the week of May
8 to explore the hurdles/possibilities of having a traffic light install
at this intersection in the City of Cape.
This corner is in the process of some major changes that will have
major impact on the traffic count. We are trying to realign the
entrances on the Radisson side (west side) and reduce the driveway cuts
(between Thurm and Central) in half with the use of a private roads
directing traffic to Thurm Blvd or Central Blvd. We are also planning
on the west side of A1A two more hotels (300+ units) north of the
Radisson and two hotels (300 + units) south off the Radisson along with
two out parcels for retail or fast food, with all traffic routed to
Central or Thurm (30 acre master plan). On the east side we are in
rebuilding and expanding a 2 story office building (75,000sq ft +/ 5.5
acre, 500 employees) which has two A1A driveway cuts. Tom H group has
agreed to explore the possibility of eliminating/changing his driveway
cut on A1A to their 12.5 acres/ 168,000 sq ft office complex (that is
south of my office complex) to one driveway cuts that is aligned with
Thurm intersection, thus reduction 1 more driveway cut to A1A. We have
preliminary plans to show you on this proposed Thurm light. The city
of Cape Canaveral said they would support this request.
We would appreciate it if you gave us some times for that week and see
if all parties could have a few minutes of your time.
Thank you,
Bob
