Laila,
From my previous meeting with the Port (including CEO Murray) they
said:
A: The Port didn’t want a hotel (no competition issues).
B: They have no objection to the Cayer property hotel other than they
have a sewer capacity issue.
I would think you could have your engineer contact Jeff Ratliff, Deputy
Public Works Services Director, to explore a connection to LS 7 via
under A1A. It’s not the ideal route for you or the City, but of course
we know that route is blocked by one property owner.

Hi Todd,
Here’s a thought.
If we bring/extend the sewer from AIA will the Port grant us an
easement to connect to the subject property?
This I believe would be the quickest and easiest way.

Good Morning Laila and Steve,
Mayor Hoog and I met with the Port’s Master Planning Consultants.
The Port wants to “wrap its arms around” their future growth. In the
last 12 months they have bought back many leases and torn down many
buildings to clean the slate for a master planned growth formwork that
will address these elements:
* A focus on the Channel as the primary source of sustainable
revenues (maritime uses preferred).
* Identifying highest and best uses for off-Channel Port leases
and structures.
o Does not include hotel
* Increased coordination with other jurisdictions. Especially
with the City of Cape Canaveral as a resource partner by supporting a
cohesive/seamless (non-jurisdictional) “Uptown District” experience for
visitors with a mix of uses consistent with City’s developmental goals.
I specifically asked the Master Plan Consultants about sewer capacity
concerns and that the City stands willing to assist as appropriate. I
stressed that we need the Port to provide data (current flows/projected
flows/current capacity restrictions/location of infrastructure). They
seemed interested, but uninformed as to the existence/extent of any
sewer capacity issue. They said they will be looking into it and
expressed appreciation.
They intend to meet with other resource partners and Cities in the
coming weeks and with us again in approx. 8 weeks. The Master Plan
report is due in November.

Good Afternoon Laila and Steve,
City Leadership Staff met today to discuss our approach to the Port’s
sewer capacity issues.
Here is where we landed: At tomorrow’s meeting with the Port’s Master
Plan Consultant Firm I will make known our willingness to assist with
sewer capacity issues. To the extent that we are able, we would like to
include this as part of our overarching support of joint initiatives.
But we need them to share data with us regarding current flow, current
capacity, projected flow, line size restrictions, bottlenecks and
location of pressurized lines in the FDOT ROW.
We are putting this on the table.
I’ll let you know how tomorrow goes.
