Because the majority of the operation will be happening in the incorporated limits of the City, I wanted to copy our Building Official, Mike German. He will need to know if there is going to be any tree removal. If just trimming, there are few standards. But removal triggers some code requirements. Our code cross-references the State database on invasive trees. But there is some City paperwork required for removal, even if invasive. He will be happy to you fill you in. Also, it looks like part of the work is on Brb Property (Hermansen). If true, he will need to be included in the paperwork as well. It would be helpful to both the Port and the City of Cape Canaveral to have a sketch that better denotes the total area that will be trimmed down. Scott From: Michael Allen [mailto:mallen@alleneng.net] Sent: Thursday, August 04, 2016 5:40 PM To: Scott Shepard, CCIM Cc: t.morley@cityofcapecanaveral.org <mailto:t.morley@cityofcapecanaveral.org> ; Michael Allen Subject: Country Inn and Suites at Port Canaveral Scott, Per our previous discussion, one of our clients owns and operates the Country Inn & Suites at Port Canaveral. Knowing that we have a continuing services contract with the Port, they asked if we would approach you to discuss the possibility of trimming the existing vegetation along the west side of the overpass, as shown on the attached sketch. They would like to open up the view to the cruise terminals and cruise ships. It appears that most of the vegetation is Brazilian pepper trees. Originally, they asked to remove the vegetation. But, both Bill Crowe and Bob Musser explained that the Port may need invasive species removal to offset future impacts to wetlands or surface waters. Thus, my client was hoping to at least seek permission from the Port to cut the vegetation to a level of 4’-5’ feet above ground. It will open the view, but still allow the Port to seek mitigation credits in the future for the invasive species removal. Of course, any environmental assessments, permitting, and construction (trimming) would be at the expense of the operators of Country Inn and Suites. Please note that they would also need permission to perform ongoing maintenance trimming until the Port further develops the west side of the overpass. Please consider this request. If you need any additional information, we will gladly supply you what we can. We are copying Todd Morley at the City of Cape Canaveral at your suggestion. Thank you in advance. Mike Michael S.
