HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE Cape Canaveral Roadway Improvements (43)Tom, Please see attached. As for the size and scope of the entry feature at the south end easement we are talking about perhaps a wrought iron- looking archway, or maybe a clock tower with some wrought iron-looking fencing. Something timeless, classic and elegant. Whatever we do, there will be a significant amount of quality landscaping. I’ve attached a photoshopped sketch that was floated around limited Staff that didn’t get a whole lot of interest. In fact, it definitely won’t be this. I’m only sending it to give a sense of a max scope and size. Wrought iron arch/fencing or clock tower would be visually less intensive than this. Our goal is a streetscape entry feature that pays homage to the original roadway to space – the “trail to the moon”, or something like that. Visually connecting the past, present and future. We are working with a designer at the moment and I will keep you informed as it progresses.\ Please let me know if you need anything further. We need to see this specific to the easement you need for the sidewalk realignment. 2) what do you think the timing is relative to being able to send us your thoughts on size and scope of monument. I know it's putting the cart before the horse to ask for design parameters before it's been designed, but the way Cumberland is treating a rash of things as "partial takings" in the lease we need to address this issue up front (I.e next week or two) so that we don't face claims of rent abatement due to the fact that they feel the eventual design from the city is too large of a visibility obstruction. Am sure you can appreciate this quandary. Let me know your thoughts on the above. Thanks Tom C. The lease is asking for all sorts of reps and warranties as to the fact that these roads will not change, which obviously is an issue for us. We need to show them as much as is publicly known and have these uncertainties acknowledged by them. Are the Atlantic Avenue improvements finalized? Please send me what presentations, staff reports, or other plans that you have with respect to this work. I have the latest FDOT reports, which are vague, with respect to A1A I believe. Can you send us the latest that you have. Visibility Cumberland lease also imposes penalties, as a partial taking, if the visibility of their store or signage is somehow obstructed by a governmental entity. This brings into question the size and scope of the monument that Cape Canaveral is planning for the easement area that it is requesting from the property owners. This means that before finalizing the lease with Cumberland, or at least during their due diligence period (over the next 90 days) Cape Canaveral will need to come up with the size and scope of the monument so that Cumberland farms will know what generally will be constructed in front of the store.
