I am appalled that you would recommend or consider that the city would approve a private meeting between the developer and individual council members - a meeting which would allow the developer to use any means at their disposal to try to convince a council member to grant city code changes in order to enrich the developer. I will not be a party to or attend such an arrangement. I would be available to discussions at an open council meeting that should include residents of the city and they should be properly notified of such a meeting. Our residents matter. Their opinions matter. We as council members represent them and they need to know how each council member would vote on these issues. The developer knows the city codes for hotels, i.e. you need 5 acres of land, a minimum of 150 units and a density of no more than 30 units per acre. To try to persuade me to agree to decrease the size of the property from 5 acres to 25 acres and to increase the density 60% from 30 units per acre to 50 units per acre is ridiculous. In addition to have the city responsible for sewer service regardless of releases signed or money placed in escrow accounts is just looking for problems for the city in the future. i can't believe a developer would make these requests from a city_ We have always projected our city as a bedroom community of tree lined streets. This is what the residents want and that is why they moved here. They have told me this over and over again. They don't want a commercialized city of high buildings, many hotels and commercial parking facilities, which is where it appears we are headed. We need to abide by our present city zoning codes. We need to immediately stop this runaway development which a has started, and as council members, we need to take back control of this city. The city manager at present is making these decisions and in doing so is dictating the future of our city. When he took his position he stated he didn't want to be here this long, but he has, and is therefore affecting the future of the city that our children will call home. We have to stop using such terns as Economic Opportunity Overlay District (FOOD), Planned Development, and fort of Call in order to override our present zoning codes. These zoning codes have been carefully prepared over many years. If we want to make any changes we need to have our residents involved. We need a referendum on the ballot to read something similar to as follows: "DO YOU WANT THE CITY TO CHANGE IT'S ZONING CODES IN THE OVERLAY DISTRICT OR ANY OTHER DISTRICT TO ALLOW HIGHER BUILDINGS, INCREASED DENSITY ( PROVIDING MORE ROOMS FOR HOTELS) OR DECREASING THE AMOUNT OF LAND PRESENTLY NECESSARY FOR HOTELS, COMMERCIAL PARKING FACILITIES OR ANY OTHER COMMERCIAL ENTITY." Thank you, Rocky Randel
