The automatic garage door operator is installed too close to the floor and is in violation: - The clear ceiling height in the garage is to be 84" per Section 406 FBC - The minimum clear ceiling height under the ADA and the Florida Accessibility Code is to be 80" - The manufacturer of the operator requires the installation to be at least 8 feet above the floor as indicated by the printed wording visible at the underside of the operator (and in the installation manual) because of a serious danger of injury to the public. The manufacturer's installation instructions are part of the Code. - The operator does not comply with UL 325. Attached for your information are some photos showing the above listed conditions.
