Subject: Arborist to Properly Prune Palm Trees
Dear City Officials,
Last year I sent you an email stating my concerns about how the city's palm trees were being pruned. The pruning by the contractor seemed to be contrary to the advice of arborists.
I included a Florida Today article by Sally Scalera with the University of Florida agriculture extension services.
In short, the city's response was that you would refer the matter to the city's arborist. I am simply reminding you of our interaction and hope that the city's arborist will oversee
the tree trimming contractor's work this year.
I have attach another article by Ms. Scalera that is in today's paper entitled "Hire certified arborist to prune trees," which revisits some of the trimming issues that I had been concerned
about and it reminded me to follow up. I would like to also point to the pertinent City Code about our "Tree City" designation.
Community Appearance Board
Purpose and Duties (City Code Section 22-36):
. Assist in ... meeting standards necessary to maintain the "Tree City"
designation.
This is not a complaint, just a concern.
Thanks,
William (Bill) Bedwell, Jr.
