HomeMy WebLinkAboutAutomatic Overhead Garage Door OperatorsDear Mr. German, In your July letter to Mr. Petty, VP of the Puerto Del Rio Condominium Association, you announced your decision concerning obstructions caused by overhead garage doors while in the open position. This decision applies to commercial/multi-family public garages in the City of Cape Canaveral. As to the buildings at Puerto Del Rio, please note that these buildings were completed from 10 to 14 years ago and that most, if not all, overhead garage doors and automatic operators have been replaced since then, I did want to ask about your position as to the automatic garage door operators since they are permanently installed at the ceiling level. Is it accurate to say that the minimum distance from the floor to the operators, any attachments to the operators and any overhead door tracks is the seven feet ( 84 inches) as listed in the code? Is it further accurate that the operators need to meet UL 325, that is do they need to reverse the overhead doors upon hitting an obstruction ( the flat 2" x 4" on the floor test) ? Thank you for your help in this matter. Alexander Bobinski 8934 Puerto Del Rio Dr. #8402 Cape Canaveral, FL 32920 Florida has a very broad public records law.
