HomeMy WebLinkAbout8934 Puerto Del Rio Drive Overhead Garage DoorsDear Mike, Thanks for coming out this morning to review the Overhead Garage Door replacement at the 8934 Puerto Del Rio building. As discussed, there is a clear and present danger to the public, not only from the installation without permit or inspection, but also from the low clearance of the doors of only 75 inches above the floor. The Florida Building Code does now and has required in the past since before the construction of the building, a minimum clearance of 80 inches. This is a minimum requirement for Egress as well as Accessibility and also under the Americans with Disabilities Act, among others. During January and February of 2017 alone, there have been 3 accidents caused by the the low overhead clearance at this location resulting in thousands of dollars of damages. There have also been many other accidents in the past. It is easily foreseeable that some of the damaged and hanging garage door sections will seriously injure, or worse, owners, guests, visitors or City of Cape Canaveral emergency personnel in the future. Attached is a copy of the information provided to Brian Palmer this morning. Your help in making the City of Cape Canaveral a safer place to live is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Alexander Bobinski Florida has a very broad public records law.
