HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE Concerns About Palm Tree Trimming (1)Thanks Rocky. Mr. Surprenant said he passed my concern and info to the City Arborist, Tim Carlisle. Sure would like to hear what he says because you’d think he’d know better:) Don’t get me wrong, we have some very good folks working for the city. I’ve worked with a number of them when representing our condo association in regards to the Banana River Park improvements, which turned out fantastic. Thanks again, Bill B. I also viewed the link to the video and found it very valuable also. An important point was discussed about never using Boot Spikes on Palms; ( which I saw our contractor using to trim the very, very, tall “Washington Palms” on East Central Blvd., where I live.) Again, may I personally Thank You for being concerned about the place we call our home, and preserving the reason we choose this area. I’ve attached the article for your information. In addition, a UF Extension Service video on the topic can be viewed at the web-link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt76hXRHBoA I’ve also attached a photo of trees that were trimmed in Banana River Park on Monday. I believe that we could save a lot of money and save our palm trees if we follow the University of Florida’s guidance. I can see the leak from my balcony. FYI, it's located on the south side of the northern park exit. It is very near the "Do Not Enter Sign", which got push a little sideways during the hurricane. It's possible that the sign may have push, damaged, and ultimately broke the waterline. Hopefully it can be reached by digging into the ground beside the pavement. >> >> Gustavo, I've copied Will Hurley on this. He's our expert on the sprinkler system and knows where the lines run. He also knows and has worked with your contractor, Bobby Chasin, also copied. I also copied Bill Kuntz who's our other expert maintenance guy to give him a heads up. This could be a team effort as we all have played well together during park improvements.
