Approval of Meeting Minutes of February 11, 2016 Motion by Ms. Deck, seconded by Mr. Moe to approve the Meeting Minutes of February 11, 2016 as written. Vote on the motion carried unanimously. 2. Staff Reports Ms. Wehking introduced the new Youth Services Librarian, Brittany Wilson. The library is currently fall up on staff. There is a part time position in the budget, but that's on hold at the moment. The library statistics for March show us up 1 I% in patron attendance and I% in circulation; however the April numbers show that patron attendance is down 5% and circulation is down 4%. The proposed County Budget has come out and Library Administration has decided to make all Level I library budgets the same across the board. Our book budget will go from $39,000 to $30,000, the supplies budget will go from $3,000 to $2,500 and operating expenses will go from $9,000 to $5,000. Library levels are decided by the size of the library, size of the staff and circulation figures. There are 6 Level 1 libraries in the county. The budget will not be adopted until September, so this has not been finalized. The county is planning to implement a capital improvement plan which includes roof work to several libraries and some major a/c work on the Central Brevard Library and Reference Center. Operating expenses include DVD/CD cases, DEMCO orders, etc. We are still using city money at the moment, and once that runs out we will go to the county money. Large print books are getting more expensive. Programs—Mr. Coppola came and gave his Space talk which was well received. Movie night participation is steadily increasing. Book club attendance dropped off(the snowbirds left) so we've decided to take July and August off. Donna Murray held another computer class that was very well attended. Youth Services has had many great programs and Cara Reddington-Kincaid is still around to help. Our 501 Anniversary celebration is this Saturday. Mayor Hoog, Marilyn Nicholas and Jeff Thompson will be speaking and the Atlantic Bluegrass Band will be performing. Rocky Randels has another commitment and won't be able to attend. Tracey talked with Rocky about a library directional sign on the highway median since there currently isn't one in place. Gustavo will look into the issue as DOT may have to approve the sign placement. Tracey thanked Ms. Deck, Sharon Pribil and the other volunteers that helped finish the CD re-cataloging project. Brittany Wilson handed out the information on the Youth Services Summer Programs. It will be 10 weeks at 10 hours per week. She's booked 12 performers/presenters. The total cost is $1,920.13. We hired 7 extra entertainers than we had last year. The total for this is $200 Iess than last summer and we've added two weeks. Hermit Crab racing has been included, and Brittany has promised to count all the crabs at the end of the day. The money from the VFW is restricted to Youth Services but it would not go to the Summer Program, as we still have some prizes to buy for the Book Bucks program. Gustavo reported that grants had been received and there's lot of work on community parks corning up soon. He will be including our information in the weekly update on the City website. Gustavo mentioned that the Polk Avenue closure will benefit the library as the new Polk Avenue is intended to be a mixed use area. Parking at City Hall will be quadrupled. Tracey reported there have been complaints about the Citizen on Patrol (COP) cars taking up the parking spots in our lot. Gustavo said he would address the COP car issue with Sheriff Ivey. He also asked us to remember that there are two other parking lots close by (SW and NW corners tot Taylor and Poinsetta). He mentioned that he had a sandwich board he could loan us so that we could point out the other parking areas. A map of the area to be included in any advertising was also discussed. The signs for the back staff parking lot need to be installed and the curbs need to be painted. Gustavo will take care of painting the curbs, but county facilities will have to handle the signs. He said he'd put the signs up once we got the new signs and posts. 3.
