Meeting Minutes July 10, 2014
1. Call to Order
The regular meeting of the Cape Canaveral Library Board was held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 and
called to order at 2:05 pm by Vice Chairperson Marilyn Nicholas
The following members were present:

a. Approval of Minutes
Joanna Atwood made a motion to approve the May 8, 2014 minutes, Jean Deck seconded the motion.
Motion carried unanimously as approved and accepted.
b. Chairperson's Report
No Chairperson's report due to Chairperson's absence.
c. Friends of the Cape Canaveral Public Library Report
Jean Deck reported on the balance of the FRIENDS checking account—$19,500; income to-date $8,700;
expenses $2,815. The Friends had proposed to hold $16,500 for library expenses to cover certain items.
Friends purchased the iPads; the children's program is on the mark for what Friends had planned; there
from what was allotted there remains a balance of$13,000 left to spend.
Friends have planned a lobby sale for September 26-27, 2014. Still not sure what they will do in
December, if anything. In February they will have another sale.
The library has been asked about more programming and the library is limited by resources; however, the
Friends have elected to work together to help develop programs. Right now the plan is to have two
programs a month starting in September (first and third Thursday of each month, 2-5 pm)
d. Director's Report
Library Director, Jenny Morrison discussed new library programming beginning with two programs a
month in September 2014. One program will be about Cape Canaveral for people who are new to the
area and don't know much about Cape Canaveral. This program will be to educate them about the
community. And the second program of the month will be about library resources. Among the subjects
will be about the library data bases, how to access your account from home and much more.
Jenny said the new iPad in the Youth Services area is ready to be used. She said eventually background
on the screen will show the iPad was purchased by the Friends of the Cape Canaveral Library.
Jenny spoke about the staffing changes which include the new reference library, Tracey Wehking.
Tracey has already set up a Facebook page for the library Sheila Mulholland has taken a new position,
also a promotion for her, as Circulation Supervisor at the Port St. John Library.
The library's statistics reflect the following: attendance was down just bit this past month with 7 people
less than last year's attendance; circulation down about 5%, it had been up at double digits.

4. Announcements
The next Cape Canaveral Library Board meeting will take place on Thursday, September 11, 2014 and
the next Brevard County Library Board meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the
Cocoa Beach Public Library, Cocoa Beach, FL. No meeting is scheduled for October 2014.
5. Adjournment
Vice Chairperson Nicholas asked for a motion to adjourn the board meeting. Mary Ernst made the motion
and it was seconded by Joanna Atwood. The meeting was adjourned at 3:10 pm.
