MINUTES
OCTOBER 16th, 1969
The Cape Canaveral Library Board met Thursday, October 16, 1969. For their October
meeting were present: Mesdames Gaertner, Fenner, Weichsel, Gorman and Rhame.
Mrs. Anne Gaertner opened the meeting at 7:00pm. Followed by the reading of the minutes
of the last board meeting, the statistical report of the library was read for the
previous month.
Chairman Mrs. A. Gaertner, then announced her resignation from the Library with regret,
as she was moving from the Cape Canaveral area to Cocoa Beach on the first of November.
She offered her services in any way as a volunteer to the library. This leaves us with
only four members of the board, therefore it was decided to try to get another person to
fill the vacancy before electing another chairman.
New appointments at the present are:
Mrs. Weichsel Public Relations Mrs. Gorman School Liaison
Mrs. Rhame Library Help Mrs. Fonner Library Help
The Board then studied the proposed magazine list. After two more were added to the list,
the mgazines were approved and n motion was passed. to order them.
The meeting was then open for discussion.
Mrs.. Gorman asked where we buy our books and at what discount, how we order them and also
how we select them. She also suggested that we invite a school class to visit the library.
Mrs. Rhame suggested that we get some music albums that people may borrow from the library.
The budget was discussed and explained to Board Members. The Meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm
