June 1, 1965
Tee City Council of the City of Cane Canaveral, Florida, met in
iP,gular Session at 8:00 P.N. at the City hall Annex, 190 Jackson Ave.,
Cape Canaveral, Florida on the let day, of June, 1965.
1he Meeting was called to Order by Mayor Thurm and the roll was
called by the Clerk. Officials present wore Mayor Richard Thum,
Councilwoman- Frances Jamieson, Councilman -}.m. Eberwein, Jack'INrck
and Eugene Jandreau, Assistant City Attorney Irving Prop -or, City
:5inager- Joseph' Rickards, City Clerk -Donna J. Anderson and Sgt. at Arms -
L.J:. Nichols.
The NSnutes of the Regular Meeting of Nay le, 1965, were approved
orlt.h the addition Wit Item 1. under New Business should read "Revocation
of Permit- Cities 5arvice Station located at S.R. 401 and long point
Road- (Joyce) and ,Item Iunder Board of Adjustment- to mad "Cities
Service Station Variance Request- 'Splelburger ".for the purpose of
identification.
Tne Minutes of the Special Meting of May 26, 1965 were approved c..
with the addition of the word "new" in Item 2, Line 4 preceuding the

The Mlnutes of the Special Emergency Meeting of June 1, 1965,,
were approved as read.
There being no objections Item 3., New Business wis taken up as
the 15t Item.
Election Roma (n) Absentee Ballots. (b) Declaration of Result.,
(c) Certification.
Absentee Ballots were presented to the Council and opened by the
Np,yor. fie results of the Election were presented to the Council by
the Election Board. Mayor Thurm then declared the Election Results
as follows:
1. Charles F. Applegate ( 35 votes)
o 'crank M. Moog (318 votes)
3. Eugene J. Jandreau (158 votes)
4. James E. Norgan (173 votes)
5. F. L. Murphy (114 votes)
6. Ruffin B. Purcell 1 97 votes)
7. Martin F. Sehrider (325 votes)
8. Richard R. 2hurm (384 votes)

'Therefore, by virtue of their . plurality, those that were elected
for two year terms werei Richard R. Thum (384), Martin F. Schrider
(325), and Frank M. HooB (318).
Mrs. Jamieson then mado a Motion that the tabulation of results
av certified by the Election Board be approved. Mr. Jandreau seconded
the Motion and it carried unanimously.

Itemil. Cities Service Station Variance Request (Spielburger)
Mayor Thum read the Minutes of the Zoning Board of May 6, 1965,
recommending the denial of the Variance Request. Mr. Jandreau made a
Motion that the recommendation of the Zoning Board be accepted and the
Variance Request be denied. TMs. Jamieson seconded the Motion and it
carried with Mr. Jandreau and Frs. Jamieson voting in favor and Mr.
Hurck. and Mr. Eberwein abstaining.

On a Motion by Mrs. Jamieson, seconded by Kr. Jandreau and carried
unnniaamously, Item 1. was tabled until the next regular nesting.
Item 2. Re- Zoning of Portion of Lots 23 And 24 of Banana River Estates
Mr. Ilurck made a Potion that Item 1. and Item 2. be taken up at a
icecial Footing June 3, 1965. 'Ps. Jandreau socondod the Potion. After
discussior. both the Potion and the second were withdrawn and Mayor
'hurm made a lotion that Item 2. be tabled. Mrs. Jamieson seconded the
Potion which failed to carry with Mrs. Jamieson voting in favor and Mr.
Hurck, Ph•. Eberwein and M_-. Jandreau opposing. Mr. Jandreau then made
the Notion that the Request by Mr. Tnoburn be rejected. Kr. Hurck
^econded the Motion and it carried with hr. Hurck and hr. Jandreau
voting in favor, Mrs. Jamieson and Mr. Eberwein obstaining.
'here being no other business before the Council, the Meeting was
adjourned on a Motion by 1-r. Hurck, as onded by lira.' Jamieson and
carried unanimously.
