HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-02-1965 Regular MeetingREGULAR COUNCIL MEETING • February 2, 1965 The Regular Meeting of the City Council met in regular session at the City Nall Annex, 190 Jackson Ave., Cape Canaveral, Florida. Officials present were Mayor Richard R. Thum, Councilwoman - Francis Jamieson, Councilmen - km. Eberwein, Jack Hurck, Eugene Jandreau, City Manager - J. D. Badgett, City Clerk - Donna J. Anderson, Sergeant -At -Arms - L. W. Nichols. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 19th, 1965 were read o by the Mayor and were approved with the following correction. Item V, "Mr. Jandreau seconded the Motion." The Minutes of the Special Meeting of January 25th, 1965 were approved as read. OLD BUSIMESS Mayor Thum gave second and final reading to an Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 81-64, "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 81 -64 PERTAINING TO SINGLE OR MULTIPLE FAMILY D'n'ELLINGS CONSTRUCTL'D IN COMMERCIAL OR INDUSTRIAL ZONING DISTRICTS, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." On a Motion by Mr. Jandreau, seconded by Mr. Hurck and passed unanimously, the Ordinance was adopted. Item 2. Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 12 -A -62 Mayor Thum gave second and final reading to "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 12 -A -62 KNOWN AS AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION, REPAIR AND DEMOLITION OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA BY PROVIDING FOR MINIMUM FLOOR ELEVATIONS OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES: PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE D1TE." On a Motion by Mr. Jandreau, seconded, by Mr. Hurck, the Ordinance was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Council. Item 3. Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 19 -63 Mayor Thum gave second and Final Reading to "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 19 -63 RELATING TO THE RULES OF PROCEDURE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIF CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL INMECARO TO GOVERNING RULES, AGENDA AND EXECUTI/E SES "ION, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." Mr. Hurck made a Motion to Amend "Rule 1.26 by striking the words "Whether formal or informal ", Mr. Jandreau seconded the Notion and the Amendment passed unanimously. Hr. Hurck then made a Motion to Amend Section 2. Rule 1.04, Line 9, by striking the word "during ", and inserting in lieu thereof the words "immediately following ". Mr. Jandreau PAGE I OFP- -- �i 'REGULAR IEETIHC, February 2, 1965 Page 2 seconded the Motion and the farandment passed unanimously. Mr. Hurck made a Motion to adopt the Ordinance as Amended. Mrs. Jamieson seconded the Motion and it passed unanimously- NEW BUSINESS Item I EnRineerin Reaort was wth ct. Item 2. Police Car Bide Mayor Thum read "A. RESOLUTION WAIVING IRREGULARITIES INLECE'n CF BIDS AND AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF MOTOR VEHICLE FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT USE; I PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." Mrs. Jamieson made a lotion that the Resolution he adopted. Mr. Hurck seconded the Motion and the Resolution was adopted with Mr. Hurck, Hrs• Jamieson and Mr. , Jandreau voting in favor and Mr. Eberwein abstaining• Mayor Thum read the submitted bide.— WARREN WOdfEN FORD, INC. $2,581.96 and INDIAN RIVER CHEVROLET CO., INC. $2,575.00• Chief Nichols expressed for the Ford and Mr. Hurck made a Motion that the Bid from WARREN WOOTEN FORD, INC. be accepted subject to the approval of the City Attorney. Mrs. Jamieson seconded the Motion and it carried with Mr. Hurck and Mrs. Jamieson voting in favor, Mr. Jandreau oprosing and Mr. Eberwein abstaining. Item 3o A cointmentd Member of Recreation Board Mayor Therm read a letter from the Recreation Board, reconvanding the Appointment of H. Clifton Bailey and the Resolution. Mr. Jandreau made a Motion that the Resolution appointing Mr. Bailey be Adopted. We• Jamieson seconded the Notion end it carried unanimously- Its. 4 Selection of New City HanaBer Item 4. was passed with no objections. Item 5 Olerk or Court Deouty. Mayor 'Phurm read Resolution appointing Margaret Roe as Clerk of Court Deputy. Mr. Hurck made a Motion to adopt the Resolution. Mrs. Jamieson seconded the Motion and the Resolution was adoped unanimously... Item 6 Agreement with City of Cocoa Water Daoartment Mayor Thum road a.letter dated January 18, 1965, from Mr. Gordon 0. Folka. Mr. Hurck made a lotion that the letter be made a part of the Agreement with the City of Cocoa: Mr. Jandreau seconded the Motion and it carried unanimously. There being no other business before the Council the meeting was adjourned on a lotion by Mr. Hurck, seconded by Mr. Jandreau and carried unanimously.
