Additionally responsible in the capacity as Acting Township Manager as needed. Leadership for 179 authorized personnel consisting of 125 sworn Police Officers and 54 Civilian Staff. Directs the Office of Emergency Management and Animal Control Officers. Responsible for the management of a $14.6 million dollar an annual operating budget. Received the 2008 State of New Jersey Customer Service Award from Governor Corzine for Community Policing Initiatives to include PACER Program and project R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Created Franklin Township Police Department Project R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Community Policing program for Senior Citizens (Responsibilities Ensuring Seniors and Police Enjoy Common Trust). Created Project P.A.C.T., Police and Community Together, Town Hall style meetings to get feedback on Community concerns. Instituted P.A.C.E.R. Program (Police and Children Engaged in Reading) at various Grammar Schools. Established proactive recruitment and hiring practices to ensure agency diversity. Ensured 45% of all new officers hired by the Franklin Twp. Police Department have been of different diversity. This ensures the agency proudly reflects the community served. The agency staffing is currently at 32% of total diversity. Recognized in 2003 by Gannet News Group in New Jersey for recruiting and hiring the highest percentage of female police officers in the State of New Jersey at 10%. Instituted Franklin Township Police Department’s Project Cuddle for children in crisis. Designed and established current Diversity Training, which includes bonding and interacting with community leaders of diverse backgrounds. Designed and created the current Field Training Officers Program, which includes a designated Field Training Officers Unit. Designed Franklin Township Police Department Recognition of Service Program, which includes officers rated as Specialists. National recognition, awarded 3rd place in the United States by Law and Order Magazine for the current traditional back and white police cruisers designed. Instituted Mobile Video Cameras to ensure officer accountability. Replaced all sidearms and at no cost to township through a modified trade-in program. Instituted the current Franklin Township Police Department Honor Guard. Instituted Special Operations Unit to target direct law enforcement concerns and quality of life issues as well as providing agency intelligence on subversive groups or terrorist organizations.
