Responsible for maintenance of over 300 miles of county road system (paved and gravel), including management of paving, grading, dust control, mowing operations, and signage. Director of Public Utilities City of Kentwood, Kentwood, MI, February 2004 – December 2006 Managed a 2.2 million dollar budget with over 29 employees. Managed 29 employees, including 6 superintendents, 21 union, 2 clerical and 9 seasonal. Responsible for management, maintenance, and repair of 140 miles of city streets, 106 miles of sanitary sewer, 3 sewage lift stations, storm drains, a water distribution system consisting of above ground storage tanks and a pumping station, all city buildings, irrigation systems, solid waste contractual services and 13 parks. Implemented safety initiative and safety program, managed snow removal and fleet maintenance operations, and oversaw maintenance of police, fire, and public works vehicles and equipment. Successfully took over maintenance services previously provided by Kent County Road Commission, including snow removal, storm and sanitary sewer systems, and street maintenance; realized a first-year $200k savings. Collaborated with citizens, fellow employees, and community advisors to accomplish the goals and needs of the community. Implemented the city's first adopt-a-street refuse collection program.
