The City of East Lansing
is the home of Michigan State University and has a population of 48,000 residents with a geographic area of 13.5 square miles. It operates under the Council-Manager form of government.
The City Council consists of five members. The City’s organization consists of The City Manager’s Office and 23 departments, with a $95 million annual operating and capital project
budget.
Responsibilities include: Housing Inspection, Code Enforcement, Community Development Block Grant Housing Rehab Specialist, Plan Review Board, State of Michigan Certified Lead
Abatement Supervisor, City Historical Preservation, City E-Dialogue newsletter departmental correspondent, Community/University Housing Liaison, Vice President/Treasurer of the Michigan
Association of Housing Officials (MAHO).
Currently involved in East Lansing’s Technology Innovation Center whose focus is to facilitate the development of the technology-based economy
of the mid-Michigan region and bolster the region's professional workforce.

Village Manager 1998 - 2000

Village of Dexter has a population of 3,200 residents. It is located just minutes from the City of Ann Arbor, home of the University of Michigan. It operates under the Council-Manager
form of government. The City Council consists of seven members, with an $8.5 million annual operating and capital project budget.
Responsible for the daily administration of the Village
including; Economic Development, Finance/Budget, Department of Public Works, Water/Sewer Utilities, Planning/Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Police/Fire, Human Resources/Labor Relations
and Building and Code Enforcement.
Awarded and supervised $8.1m water/sewer bond projects, well field grants, sidewalk grant, and directed a community sidewalk committee to facilitate
upgrades. Spearheaded the Dexter Parks Committee Park improvements and the renovation of the fire department. Procured residential site plan approval and initiated construction start
up for 863 new luxury homes and multiple commercial developments.
City Manager 1996 - 1998
Springfield, Michigan
The City of Springfield has a population of 5,200 residents,
with a $6.45 annual operating and capital project budget. It is located just west of Battle Creek, Michigan. It operates under the Council-Manager form of government. The City Council
consists of five members.
Responsible for the daily administration of the City including; Finance/Budget, Department of Public Works, Police/Fire, Parks and Recreation, Human Resources/Labor
Relations and Building and Code Enforcement.
Established a new residential housing development, Charter School and City Park; Partnered with Habitat for Humanity to develop new housing
for the community. Expanded the Industrial and Commercial Business Parks.
Assistant City Manager/Human Resources Director 1993-1996
Albion, Michigan
The City of Albion has a population of 10,000 residents. It operates under the Council-Manager form of
government. The City Council consists of five members, with a $20.5 million annual operating and capital project budget.
Responsible for the daily administration, supervision and the
annual budget development for the following departments: Human Resources, City Inspections, Planning and Community Development, Parks and Recreation, and Municipal Building and Maintenance.
Also, held additional titles of Building Inspector, City Inspector/Code Enforcement Director, and interim City Planner.
Successfully completed the historic restoration of the City’s
train station and downtown streetscape. Computerized the code compliance tracking system, reduced overall personnel budget by 50% through consolidation of departments. Secured and administered
several neighborhood revitalization and housing grants. Member with the Albion Affordable Housing Authority. Coordinated multiple Habitat for Humanity Home projects.
City of Livonia
Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician 1979-1991
Livonia, Michigan
Responsibilities included fire safety training, firefighting, crew chief of emergency medical rescue
teams, heavy duty extrication team member , hazardous materials team member, fire inspection and prevention,. Certified as a National Fire Academy Instructor.
Accomplishments: coordinated
and trained area fire departments on basic firefighting 1 and 2, Hazardous materials, and fire safety training classes, developed and co-produced fire academy programming for the local
public access cable television station.
