HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 10-20-1964REGULAR COUNCIL M- ETIIK3 CITY COUNCIL October 20, 1964 The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City or Caps Canaveral, Florida was held at 7:35 P.M. at the City. Hall Annex, 190 Jackson Ave., Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Meeting was called to Order by Mayor Thum and the roll was called by the Clerk. officials present were Mayor Thum, Councilmen: Wm. Eberwsin, Jack Hurck, Eugene Jandreau, Councilwomant Francis Jamieson, City Manager- J. D. Badgett, City Clerk - Donne J- Anderson, City Attorney - T. David Barns, Sargeant -At -Arms - Chief L. W. Nichols. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 6, 1964, and the Minutes of the Special Meeting of October 8, 1964 were read by the Clerk and there being no additions were approved as read. The Treasury Report was approved with no additions or corrections. NEW BUSINESS Item 1. A vointment of Chief of Police - Resolution Ftyor Thum read Resolution No. 79 -64 "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A CHIEF OF POLICE FOR Tic CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA," .appointing L. N. Nichols. Mrs. Jamieson made a Motion to adopt the Resolution. Mr. Hurck seconded the Motion and the Resolution was adopted with Mr. Hurck and Mrs. Jamieson voting in faovrs Mr. Jandresu and Mr. Eberrein voting against and Mayor Thum voting in favor of adoption thereby breaking the tie. Item 2. A ppointment of Cit Prosecutor - Resolution Mayor Thum read Resolution No. 78-64 "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A CITY PROSECUTOR FOR THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA." Mfrs. Jamieson made a Motion to place in nomination the name William K. Chester. Hr. Hurck seconded the Motion. After discussion on compensation for the services of a City Prosecutor, Mr. Hurck withdrew his second. Mr. Chester indicated that he would be willing to serve without compensation until a salary could be set. Mr. Hurck reseconded the Motion and it carried with Mt'. Hurck and Mrs. Jamieson voting in favor, Mr. Eberwein opposing and Hr. Jandreau abstaining' 'Rare being no other business before the Council the Meeting was adjourned at 8115 P.M. on a Motion by Mr. Hurck, seconded by Mr. Jandreau and carried unanimously.
