HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 08-04-1964MINUTES OF KiGULAH 1WTING CM COUNCIL August 4, 1964 The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida was held at 7:30 P.M. on the 4th day of August at the City Hall Annex at 130 Jackson Ave., Cape Canaveral, Florida. Mayor Thum called thb Meeting to Order and the roll Was called by the Clerk. officials present were: Mayor Richard R. Thum, Councilmen; Wm. Eberwein, Jack Hurck, Mrs. Francis Jamieson, Eugene Jandreau, T. David Barns - City Attorney, Donna J. Anderson - City Clerk, Chief Wimberley - Sargent -at -Arms. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 21, 1964 were read by the Clerk and were approved with the following corrections. Page 2, Item 3, under NEW Business - Appointment of Chairman of Recreation Board, Line 5 after the word "City" insert the Word "Attorney" and after the word "Ordinance", "The Motion was seconded by Mfrs. Jamieson and carried by the unanimous vote of the Council." The Minutes of the Special Meeting of July 23, 1964 were read and there being no additions or corrections were approved as read. Mr. Hurck made a Notion to adopt said Ordinance. Hr. Jandreau seconded the Motion. After discussion, W. Hurck made a Motion to amend Section 4, sub - paragraph C. The Motion to amend died for lack of a second and the Ordinance was "opted with Mr. Hurck, Mrs. Jamieson and Mr. Jandreau voting in favor and Hr. Eberwein voting ag- ainst. Item 2 rdinance Prohibitin¢ Vehicular Traffic on Beach (2nd and Final Reading) Mayor Thum read "Ali ORDIHANCE OF THE CM CF CAPE CFN;.VERAL, FLQ11DA: P10Y.1F]TI G VEHICULAR TP.AFFIC (21 OCEAN H.4ACH: PROVIDING EXCEPTIONS AND PR•:S. CRIDII:G PEIIALTM FOR VIOLATION." Mr. Jandreau made a Motion to Adopt, Hra. Jamieson seconded the Notion and the ordinance Was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Council. Item 3 Anti Litter Ordinance (2nd and Final. Jandreau, seconded by Mr. Hurck, with Mr. Hurck, Mrs. Jamieson and Mr. Jandreau voting in favor and Mr, Eberwein, voting against adoption.. Itcm CStY Mfaneger O:dinanco (2nd and Final Reading) Mayor Thum read "AN ORDI21AIlCE APPOINTING A CM MWNAGERS PROVIDING All EF ECTIVE DATE," and the Ordinance was adopted on a Motion by Mrs. Jamieson, seconded by Mr. Hurck, with Mr. Hurck, Mrs.., Jamieson and Mr. Jandreau voting in favor and Mr. Eberwein voting against adoption. Item 5 - Pa sad Item 6 Appointment of Zoning Board Members On a Motion by Mr. Hurck, I seconded by W..Jandreau.and passed unanimously, Item 6 was postponed until a special Meeting, August 11, 1964. ML^l4 BUSI17E55 Item 1 Introduction of Cape Viaw Principals Mrs. Jamieson introduced Mr. Gordon Grouch who spoke for Mr. Robert Mink, Principal, on the Cape View Elementary. School. Item 2 Recreation Board Ordinance (latReading) Mayor Thum read 11 A14 ORDINANCE C12EATING A K:CR&ATICH BOARDS PROVIDIIG FOR ITS MBRS A14D DATESs CONSTITUTING ITS ISIELIRSHIPM PROVIDING All EFFECTIVE DATE." The first Reading was approved on a Motion by Mr. Jandreau, seconded by Mrs. Jamieson and carried by unanimous vote. Item 3 Resolution 110 69 (state Road 520) Mayor Thum read the Resolution and it was adopted on a Motion by Mr. Hurck, seconded by Mr. Jandreau and unanimously carried. A fifteen minute recess was called . by the Mayor. Item 4 Resolution (First Federal Savings & Lease Branch) Mr. Hurck made a Motion to Table Item 4 indefinitely. Mr. Jandreau seconded the Motion and the Motion carried with Mr. Merck, Mrs. Jamieson and Mr. Jandreau voting in favor and Mr. gberwain opposing. There being no other business before the Council the Meeting was adjourned at 9s10 P.M. on a Motion by Mr. Jandreau, seconded by Mrs. Jamieson and carried unanimously.
