HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 03-31-1964 SpecialMINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING CITY COUNCIL CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL March 31, 1964 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, was held at 7130 P.M. on March 31, 1964, at the Temporary City Ball, 109 Buchanan Ave., Cape Canaveral, Florida. City Officials present were: Mayor Richard Thum, Councilmens Jack Hurck, F. L. Murphy, EugeneJgndreau and W. Eberwein, T. David Burns - City Attorney, Donna J. Anderson - City Clerk. The Meeting was called to Order by Mayor Thum. Item 1. Utility Ordinance. There being no objections, the Council passed to the next .Item on the Agenda. Item 2. City Planning Consultant After discussion Mr. Hurphy made a Motion that the Item be Tabled. Mr. Jandreau then made a Motion that Mr. George Simon of Jacksonville, Florida, be designated bathe Council as the Planning Consultant and to further negotiate with him. Mr. Hurck seconded the Notion. Mr. B. B. Purcell then presented to the Council a petitions "We the undersigned resident taxpayers of the City of Cape Canaveral hereby protest the spending of our tax monies to engage City Planners to zone and plan our City." The Petition listed 136 signatures, such Petition filed with the City Clerk and male a part of Public Records. Mr. Jandreau and Mr. Hurck voted . in favor of the Motion to designate Mr. Simon, Mr. Murphy and Mr. Eberwein voted against the Motion. Mayor Thum voted in favor of the Motion, thereby breaking the tie. Mr. Hurck suggested 1 that Mr. Simon be contacted as soon as possible. Item 3. Report of the Building Inspector After discussion, Mr. James Morgan, Building Inspector for the City asked for clarification of his authority and a meeting was suggested with the Council for further discussion. Hr. Murphy made a Notion to place on the Agenda an Item "Renting Office Space." `` 1 PAGE I OFZ. SPECIAL MEETING March 31, 1964 Page 2 Vr. Hurck made a Motion to negotiate with Mr. W. M. Murphy for Office apace. Mr. Jandreau seconded the Motion with Mr. Hurck, Mr. Murphy and Mr. Jandreau voting in favor of the Motion and Mr. Eberwein opposing. Mr. Hurck then made a Motion to enter into negotiations with Mr. Bill Murphy for the rental of office apace on the comer of Taylor and Astronaut Blvd, at a monthly rate, not to exceed $135.00. Mr. Jandreau seconded the Motion. Mr. Jandreau, Mr. Murphy and Mr. Hurck voted in favor of the Motion and Mr. Eberwein opposed. Mr. Murphy made a Motion to Adjourn. Mr. Jandreau seconded the Motion and the Heating was adjourned by unanimous vote of the Council. Approved this 7th day of April, 1964. PAGE z-OFZ
