The -meeting of the Recreation Complex Committe was called
to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman, John Butler.
Members present: John Butler, Chaillan, Harry- Rhame,
Vice -Chairman, Nancy Hanson, Secretary, Bob Laws,
Dan Keane, Silvio Yare, Lamar Russell, Ann ThurL1 and.
Elvin Allen.
A motion was made by Bob Laws, seconded by Harry Rhame,
to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Passed.
unanamously.
Harry Rhame reportedthat he had contacted. Steven Thayer
of Briley, Wild and Associates to ask if they, as City
Engineers, would be agreeable to the committee hiring
a consulting engineer firm, other than themselves, to
perform services on the recreation complex. Mr. Thayer
assured Rhame that Briley, Wild and Associates would
have no objections. Rhame next reported that he had
contacted John Allen of Allen Engineering, Inc. about
the possibility of his .firm performing consulting
services for the complex. Mr. Allen indicated that he
would be interested only if he would be allowed to
perform complete services so he could maintain engineering
control and responsibility over the project. It was
indicated that financial arrangements could be made with
the committee at a later date but that the ceiling price
would not exceed $4,000.
Discussion followed as to whether we wished to hire one
firm to be consulting engineer or each job hired out to
individuals as the different services were needed.
Nancy Hanson made the motion to hire one engineering
firm to get the package together. Seconded by Lamar
Russell, passed unanamously.
Harry Rhame moved that Allen Engineering, Inc. be hired
to perform complete service in preparation of planned
specifications, subject to completion of a successful
negotation for the proposed recreation complex. Elvin
Allen seconded the motion. Motion passed unanamously.
Rhame volunteered to draft a letter to Allen Engineering,
Inc. informing them of the committee's action.
Next meeting is scheduled for MOnday, March 10th at
5:00 p.m. at City Hall,
Respectfully submitted Nancy Hanson, Secretary.
