SEPTEMBER 25, 1962
A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral Was held
September 25, 1962, at the Recreation Nall of the Cocoa Palms Trailer Park, at
7:30 P.M.
City Officials Present were: Mayor R. A. Jamieson, George.. G. Rogers, C. F.
Applegate, William Eberwine, A. D. Anderson, Leo B. Collins, City Clerk Shirley S.
Jenkins and City Attorney George Ritchie.
The meeting was called to order by the President of the Council.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 18, 1962, were read and on
MOTION duly made were approved as read.
1. The next item of business was the reading of the "LP Gas and Utility Tax"
Ordinance No. _ . After discussion with the council a MOTION was duly made
seconded and passed unanimously to hold the first reading of the "LP Gas and Utility
Tax" Ordinance until the next regular meeting.
2. The ABC Ordinance No. 6-62 vas approved and signed by the Mayor and
attested by the City Clerk. The City Clerk vas then directed to number and post
the ABC Ordinance.
3. Mr. Rogers asked if Mr. Ralph. Butts of the Cape Canaveral Disposal
Service was present. Mr. Butts was not present for discussion on garbage franchise.
4. Mr. Rogers stated that a letter had been received from the United Fund
of Brevard County, Inc. requesting the passage of the following resolution by the
Council of the City of Cape Canaveral:
RESOLUTION NO. 15
BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Cape Canaveral endorses the
fund campaign of the United Fund of Brevard County, Inc.
and urges all citizens of Cape Canaveral to adequately
contribute toward such campaign.
On MOTION duly made, seconded and passed unanimously, the Resolution was
approved as read.
5. Mr. Simms of Shuford Mills presented copies of a Plat for Cape Canaveral
Beach Gardens, Unit No. 2, to the council for their study and to be returned at the
next regular meeting for approval.
6. Mr. Rogers asked if there vas any new business to be discussed.
NEW BUSINESS;
1. Mr. Frank Hoog stated that he had been contacted by the AAA Janitorial
Service, Cocoa, Florida and they had offer to clean the City Hall for $20.00 a month.
It was agreed by the council that this amount could be included in the Monthly expenses
of the City Hall.
2. Mr. Rogers stated that on Friday, September 21, 1962, that two members of
the council went to the Court House, Titusville, Florlda to assist the County in
blocking the taking over of the block that has been designated as the City's Recreation
Park. After a general discussion it was agreed that a petition be made of the Avon
By The Sea citizens who had own surrounding property before the year 1958 and could
state that this land had been cleared for this purpose before 1958.
3. Ordinance No._____ entitled "Dedications of Land within the Corporate
Limits of Cape Canaveral, Florida ", was given its first reading.
4. All business was concluded and on M0TION duly made, seconded and passed
unanimously meeting was adjorned.
