The meeting was called to order by Chairman Colin Finnegan at 3:10 p.m.
The minutes of the April 3, 1995, meeting were approved as written.
The Recreation Department's actual revenues/costs through May 3, 1.995, vs. approved annual
budget were reviewed and noted to be essentially on target.
The Recreation Director presented her March and April, 1995, Activity Reports and detailed
results of the Department's Programs to date, including the Easter Egg Hunt, Spring Ring
Racquetball and Tennis Tournaments, and Bicycle Inspection/Registration at Cape Vew
Elementary School. All were accepted as presented.
The Recreation Director presented her Department's planned Summer Recreation Program
including Special:Interest Classes in Cape Canaveral and Pool Splash activity at Cocoa Beach
facilities. Alt were accepted as presented.
The Board then reviewed available updating information on potential Youth Center activity, grant
aid for new lighting at the Cape Canaveral Banfield Park, status of the Long .Point/Columbia Drive
Park plans, and progress on the Taylor Avenue Xeriseape Park.
There was no unfinished business. Under new business, the Board reviewed the 1995-96
Recreation Department's Capital Improvements Budget and discussed ideas for the Department's
1995-96 Operating Budget under development. The Board endorsed consideration of the
addition of a Grant- writing Specialist (even part-time) to the Cape Canaveral City staff.
There being no further business before the Board, Chairman Colin Finnegan adjourned the
meeting at 4:00 p.m.
