CAPE CANAVERAL RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
January 25, 1993

I. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Harvey Renshaw at 5:00.
II. Minutes of the December 15, 1992, meeting were approved on a motion by
Marianne Kulac, seconded by Regina Mead.
III.The Budget was discussed. The expenditure of Facility Improvements
funding will be for paint and wallpaper for the Recreation Building.
IV. The Recreation Director reviewed December's Activity Report. She
announced that the classes are full and well attended. Line dance
classes have begun and response is such that a split class is possible.
Upcoming events were announced to include a Mixed Doubles Tennis
Tournament in February, Racquetball tournament in April, and the annual
Easter Egg Hunt on April 10.
Patriots' Day (March 13) activities are well into the planning stages.
Responses are being received for parade participation, and the Business
Association will meet with Nancy on January 26 to discuss members'
involvement, as well. Mr. Renshaw, Ms. Bender and Mr. Porter agreed to
make available their convertibles for the parade.
V. Unfinished Business:
None.
VI. New Business:
1. A 'Get -Well' card will be sent to Nate Jones,
2. The next meeting will be March 22.
3. Marianne Kulac made a motion to recommend to the City Council that
the Special Olympics Committee's request for use of Shuffleboard Courts
be granted, at no charge. Regina Mead seconded, and the motion passed
unanimously.
VII.Discussion:
1. John Porter remarked that the 'small park' area must be appraised
by the Council with regard to ecological or health hazards and an
estimate of operational and maintenance costs, prior to a final
planning stage.
2. The Council's appreciation dinner has been tentatively set for April
17.
3. Each Board member recieved a 1993 planning book given by the City
Council.
Colin Finnigan moved to adjourn. Seconded by Mariane Kulac. Adjournment
,6:00.
